The Importance of “Listening” to Our Bodies

When you instinctively feel you are pushing the limits with your body, it is a critical moment of self awareness signaling the mind we need to pay attention. If we neglect this natural instinctive warning, our physical and mental well being will be impacted in numerous ways and even more so if the prolongation of self action is not brought to bear.
I undergo the mental daily battle of how I consider what and how much is “pushing” myself.  It occurs that the mind and spirit are sometimes not aligned and we find ourselves feeling more up to the next daily task and challenge instead of heading the underlining message: we are physically exhausted. This is how I landed in the ER on 3 occasions within a one week period resulting with a 3 day hospitalized stay as I was diagnosed with Influenza A.
The above statement is even more important if one also suffers from an immune disorder/dis-ease.  In my case, the Influenza was only the cause of my severe illness but my demise during that entire memorial week was a result of my immune disease RA.  Even though I am in a better physical shape and mental state of mind that I have ever been with my RA, I am still prone to viruses and sickness as by default I have a week Immune System.
The message I learned is clear, if I would have taken better care to “listen” to my body I may have perhaps a) not been as prone to be so weakened by the Influenza A and/or  b) my body would have not been as weak to allow the virus to even “switch on” in my body for me to be so sick.
I wish you good health and continued spiritual healing,
