Bone Chicken broth

Bone Chicken Broth

I am sure you have heard about something similar to this before, but to me bone chicken broth is something that I have to drink all the time in my household. Me and my family benefit from all of its wonderful nutrients at least twice a week. It helps me treat many things like inflammation, hemorrhoids, immune systems, stomach healing flu and etc. I have a very close friend with a colon condition and she says that bone chicken broth is a wonderful substitute for any other medicine! It is very simple and easy to make!

First things first, you’ll need to buy organic chicken, and make sure you get the neck, heart, and liver! Throw it all in slow cooker, fill with water have way, throw some onions with the yellow skin, celery, garlic, cilantro, and Himalayas salt! Let it sit for 24 hours and your ready!

Make sure you drink 1/2 a cup every day in the morning until it is finished.

Healing Processh

September and October was a very difficult months for me as I had surgery on both of my feet due to dynamic arthritis in my toes requiring pins to be administered through my toes for 4-6 weeks.  This procedure re-aligns my toes as well as ensure my bone structure does not deteriorate any further.  The big picture however was my mind set as I was confined to my bed for the majority of the time with very limited movement.  I had 2 options, I can be frustrated and upset and therefore lose or I can learn from the process and heal.  I chose to learn and this was not an easy task as I had to be patient with myself in order to visualize the healing process while meditating.  Because of the latter process, my doctor was extremely impressed with my recovery, specifically the rate of inflammation and skin repair.  The message of my experience is simply do not give up and love your soul and body.  With meditation and visualization the magic of your body will heal quickly.

When the body get fix your soul learn to be strong.

The Importance of “Listening” to Our Bodies

When you instinctively feel you are pushing the limits with your body, it is a critical moment of self awareness signaling the mind we need to pay attention. If we neglect this natural instinctive warning, our physical and mental well being will be impacted in numerous ways and even more so if the prolongation of self action is not brought to bear.
I undergo the mental daily battle of how I consider what and how much is “pushing” myself.  It occurs that the mind and spirit are sometimes not aligned and we find ourselves feeling more up to the next daily task and challenge instead of heading the underlining message: we are physically exhausted. This is how I landed in the ER on 3 occasions within a one week period resulting with a 3 day hospitalized stay as I was diagnosed with Influenza A.
The above statement is even more important if one also suffers from an immune disorder/dis-ease.  In my case, the Influenza was only the cause of my severe illness but my demise during that entire memorial week was a result of my immune disease RA.  Even though I am in a better physical shape and mental state of mind that I have ever been with my RA, I am still prone to viruses and sickness as by default I have a week Immune System.
The message I learned is clear, if I would have taken better care to “listen” to my body I may have perhaps a) not been as prone to be so weakened by the Influenza A and/or  b) my body would have not been as weak to allow the virus to even “switch on” in my body for me to be so sick.
I wish you good health and continued spiritual healing,

Cabbage Leaves as an Natural Inflammatory Remedy

My self prescribed investigation with Arthritis has been over the years fascinating as I learn new things on a daily basis.  It is also a constant reminder and affirmation of how nature / mother earth contains all forms of solutions to our daily ailments and sicknesses.  I have also found as a result of personal and direct experience Western Medicine has not been as effective as the natural remedies.

Cabbage leaves act as a powerful anti-inflammatory as it contains anti-inflammatory compounds. Cabbage juice is rich in lactic acid, a known anti-bacterial. Applied to the skin, these compounds are remarkably effective at relieving swelling and the pain associated with it.  The best application method dependent on the area of inflammation is to simply remove several whole cabbage leaves from the cabbage ball and wrap them around the area and utilize a stretch band material so that it may hold the cabbage leaves in contact with the inflamed area.  It is best to apply this after a warm shower and right before going to sleep and allow the magic of nature relieve you of your pain during the night.

Alcohol and RA

It is important for me to declare after years with RA the number one enemy to RA in food is refined sugar.  Thereby alcohol by default is not exactly a product to consume should your RA is severe.  However that being said it is also important to say we are all human and enjoying good food with good wine is a pleasure of life.

I have noted through my years different alcohols have different effects.  For example, drinking imported wine has a greater effect as I am proned to immediate inflammation and headaches due to added sulfites (as a preservative for freshness) and the sugar by-product in these wines.  But if I travel to Europe and consume local wines somehow I seem to handle these differently.  Not sure if it is the sulfites as sugar is the primal ingredient which has the effect.  The sweeter the wine such as a Proseco or a Riesling, the greater the effect.  On the other hand Rum, which is a sugar cane based liquor of which I would have assumed would have an enormous effect on me somehow did not.

The best way to enjoy alcohol socially or with food is to first identify which types of alcohol has the greater effect.  Once this is identified then there are better chances to enjoy drinking with moderation of course and dependent on one’s current condition.  I would also advise not to mix alcohols as this will have adverse effects on RA not to mention a severe hangover.img_7874

Gratitude

It is very important to give thanks for everything in one’s life, even when life is very difficult because of the many imperfections.  But the practice of giving gratitude is good for one’s soul as well as one’s health as it is the key to being in peace within; without asking for more, but just being happy within ourselves.  It is not easy but when one performs this exercise especially while meditating, everything becomes better and all our individual problems however big they may be become less important allowing for a greater day.  Most importantly, when one is going through a terrible moment, the practice of giving gratitude will make one’s day so much better.

Yoga change my body

Yoga for me has been a tremendous help in my journey with RA, especially because when I wake up in the morning, some days I feel swollen and after a yoga session I am positive and physically better.

But you have to be careful as to who is your teacher because he/she need to know what hurts or what are your limitations so that they can help and work with you.  My teacher, Javier Wilensky has been and continues to be very helpful and he knows how to work with people that have various conditions because of his extensive knowledge of the body combined with yoga.

It has been one year since I started practicing yoga and I see myself in better shape and with a more positive attitude in life.

Spiritual Healing

Spiritual healing has been an instrumental process in my path to a better and stronger physical body against my RA. The ability to meditate, which is in essence self healing, helps balance your body’s spiritual energy by providing the mind with calm and clarity. When the mind is tranquil and balanced so is the body. Additionally when the spirit is balanced, which is a process of bringing yourself back to neutral, you open yourself to stronger physical channels and thereby allow for greater for the body to naturally balance its immune system.
